President’s Message

Greetings,

Over the years, we have lost many of our members as age takes its toll, so it is especially sad when one of our “younger” members is lost unexpectedly. David Mangum, President of our Board of Trustees, passed away in May and left some awfully big shoes to fill in that capacity.

I certainly had no expectation to change officer chairs so suddenly, but such is the role of a Vice President. The Delta County Historical Society is very resilient, and member Matthew Soper has agreed to fill the Board vacancy.

As we approach July, the hot, dry weather has continued to present challenges in many parts of Colorado. Our farmers and ranchers have dealt with these issues before, trusting that Mother Nature will eventually turn things around.

Keep in mind that our museum is comfortably air conditioned, so if you are looking for a cooling-off, pay us a visit. Check out our new historical wedding dress exhibit, or just revisit Delta’s past. See you soon!
